Do you rent an apartment? If you do then you need Renters Insurance!
Renters Insurance covers all the things you value -- the things you've
worked so hard to acquire, including personal effects such as furniture,
TV, stereo, clothing etc. -- from loss due to fire, theft, storm,
plumbing leaks and vandalism. It can also cover costs you may incur for
related expenses, including:
- Expenses to move and live in a motel, hotel or another apartment if a
fire or other covered damages occur.
- Lawsuits to pay for someone getting hurt physically in your apartment
or getting hurt by you anywhere in the world (with the exception of auto
and business related lawsuits.)
Some other things to think about when you live in a multi-unit
apartment and are considering Renters Insurance:
- How many tenants live in the building ? The more tenants in a
building, the greater the risk of fire. And a fire occurring in one
apartment may have a direct consequence to you. Fire and smoke may spread
to your unit which will cause you to have to vacate until the building is
repaired.
- Plumbing problems that occur above you in a neighbor's apartment may
cause water to leak directly through the ceiling onto your furniture and
other personal effects.
- Theft of your belongings by other tenants.
